yoz again...grrhhh my gastric is acting up again as i type... :( but for the sake of my faithful readers, i shall perservere ;p haha...
today i went to sch for chem extra lessons [which was cancelled in the end due to mr tan's father being warded in the hospital ;(] on the mrt train, i saw this crazy man... he was dressed in this wrinkled shirt, three-quarters and slippers... couldnt determine his race...but he appeared to be in his late fifties to sixties... anyway, he was on the train since pasir ris and appeared calm and quiet till around kallang. Then he stood up. i thought he was leaving the train. instead, he walked to the next door and started talking in this loud voice to a caucasian guy who was holding crutches. The caucasian guy did not shrink away from the man but instead smiled and nodded at whatever the man said. He even held out his hands and shook the man's hand despite the man's odour.
When I saw this scene, i was really surprised by the actions of the caucasian guy. Any other person would have just walked away in fear or disgust. I really respected the guy for his compassion for those more unfortunate than us. Although the caucasian guy had crutches and had support on both legs [i believed he is suffering from polio], he spared a thought for someone most of society would shun. Some might say that this people are out of their mind and should not be entertained lest they do something evil in their madness, however i feel that people who have mental illnesses are not necessarily crazy and most are generally harmless... I think that as we developed as a society, we should not lose our compassion and care for those around us. Sparing a feeling or even a smile for someone not as able as us, we are not wasting our time with pity. Instead we are giving them our care so that these people are not left behind when our society progresses. You may feel that these people are of no use to society anymore, but they too are somebody's parents, or siblings, or spouses, or children. They deserve the society's help and concern. I believe that the caucasian man's action is something that we should all look up to and learn from ;p

Haha, i know people would be surprise by this post of mine, but i really feel strongly about this issue ;p so here's some food for thought before you go to sleep tonight. ;p

off to dinner now ;p BYE!
